Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR)
Based at the University of Waterloo, the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR) conducts advanced research to further automotive innovation and competitiveness. With five major areas of expertise and cutting-edge studies, they work with industry partners from around the world to enhance vehicles, components, and materials with new approaches and the integration of innovative technologies. Researchers and facilities of WatCAR are focused in the following areas: Connected and Autonomous, Lightweighting and Fabrication, Powertrain and Emissions, Software and Data, and Structure and Safety.
WatCAR has a vast array of relationships with organizations within the automotive industry, funding partners, and affiliated centres and institutes. To meet the demands of technology advancement in the automotive sector, WatCAR develops innovative, cost-effective, and ‘rapid-response’ research solutions, and offers collaborative research opportunities and technical consultations to potential partners.
