Skills Ontario
Based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Skills Ontario is a not-for-profit organization that promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies. Its programs are offered in communities throughout Ontario, providing a hands-on and engaging introduction for younger persons.
Skills Ontario partners with school boards, colleges, small businesses, large companies, labour groups, and governments to provide opportunities for youth to explore and develop skills for successful careers in skilled trades and technologies. Its work includes engagement with different stakeholders to ensure its programs connect education, experience, and employment. Moreover, Skills Ontario delivers in-school presentations across Ontario, hosts Canada’s largest skills competition, runs summer camps for skills development, and connects students to employers. It also offers the Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Talk Podcast, where Skills Ontario representatives discuss careers in the skilled trades and technologies, post-secondary education, apprenticeship, wages, and more.
