National Research Council Manufacturing and Automotive Innovation Hub


Organizational focus: The National Research Council’s (NRC) Manufacturing and Automotive Innovation Hub (MAI) is focused on collaborative R&D with automotive and manufacturing supply chain partners.

Who they are: Located in London, the NRC MAI is a research centre that hosts a 75,000 square foot collaborative laboratory. In this lab, manufacturers and automotive specialists collaborate with staff on developing advanced manufacturing processes and smart vehicle technologies.

What they offer: The MAI has capabilities in laser micromachining, laser polishing, laser texturing/structuring, pulsed laser deposition, chemical/physical vapour deposition, and optical fabrication for applications in tool and die manufacturing, security, electronics, and automotive lighting. It can develop technologies related to smart autonomous vehicles, vehicle light weighting and electrification.
