Fabric Based Research Platform (FIBRE)

Based in the University Health Network’s KITE Research Institute, the Fabric Based Research Platform (FIBRE) is an academic research platform in the field of textile-based technologies. Medical wearables have the potential to monitor patient health remotely, restore function, allow partner industries to reach and exceed their potential and provide the ability to treat patients in isolated locations who have limited access to resources. FIBRE’s mission is to make care accessible to people through technology by designing, introducing and integrating smart textiles across the healthcare system.

As a consortium of academic, corporate, and commercial partnerships, FIBRE aims to educate, and identify individual needs, in addition to designing, prototyping, testing and commercialization of products. Companies can partner with FIBRE and work alongside leaders in rehabilitation research to develop textile-based technologies that actively treat and prevent chronic conditions.
