Design Fabrication Zone (DFZ)
Organizational focus: The Design Fabrication Zone (DFZ) supports entrepreneurial design and fabrication innovation.
Who they are: Based at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Innovation Studio, the DFZ assists entrepreneurs in progressing early-stage ideas for inventions and businesses. It guides them through developing concepts from initial product ideas to functional prototypes.
What they offer: DFZ members have access to fabrication space and equipment for hands-on experimentation and prototyping. The DFZ also provides mentoring services, technical-entrepreneurial advice, and assistance in advancing design and fabrication projects. Its facilities include the Design + Technology LAB (D+TL) and the Creative School’s Open Space.
