Design Fabrication Zone – Design + Technology Lab


Organizational focus: The Design+Technology lab (D+TL) provides entrepreneurs and students access to advanced digital fabrication tools for creative endeavours.

Who they are: Based in Toronto Metropolitan University’s Innovation Studio, the D+TL is a technology-based workshop that supports creative research, scholarship, and entrepreneurship activities across various departments and external community collaborations. It facilitates faculty-led research projects from the Creative School and fosters interdisciplinary partnerships within the university.

What they offer: Members of the D+TL have access to a fully-equipped workroom, robotics high bay, and printing lab featuring a diverse range of digital fabrication equipment. This includes contactless 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, textile computing, robotics, and drones. Additionally, the lab provides analog fabrication tools within its metal and woodworking shops, catering to traditional and modern fabrication needs.
