Design Fabrication Zone – Design + Technology Lab
Based at Toronto Metropolitan University, the Design Fabrication Zone (DFZ) is an interdisciplinary hub for design and fabrication that strategically propels early-stage ideas for inventions, businesses, and installations along the continuum – from design to prototype to mass manufacturing. With access to fabrication space and equipment, members of the DFZ are able to conduct hands-on experimentation and prototyping at various levels from preliminary to advanced.
Its Design + Technology LAB (D+TL) is a technology-based workshop that supports creative research + scholarship, curriculum, and entrepreneurship activities across The Creative School and Zone Learning. The D+TL offers Zone members both analog fabrication tools (woodworking and metalworking shops) and digital fabrication tools (including 3D printing, textile computing, AR/VR, and robotics).
