Organizational focus: The Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE) focuses on supporting and developing a sustainable, profitable forest bio-economy in Ontario.
Who they are: Based in Thunder Bay, CRIBE is a not-for-profit accelerator that helps turn research and innovation into opportunities within the forest bio-economy. It brings together a collaborative network of researchers, industry partners and end users to create and commercialize forest-based, low-carbon solutions.
What they offer: CRIBE has identified four areas of focus to encourage market realization, forest innovation, lignin as a fossil fuel replacement, biocomposites and biomaterials, and heavy industry. It also offers funding, a network of support for research and development pilot projects, and commercial-ready forest-based products.
