Organizational focus: The Centre for Advanced Nuclear Systems (CANS) is focused on understanding the behaviour of nuclear materials and thermal hydraulics systems.

Who they are: CANS is a nuclear research centre headquartered at McMaster University that provides advanced research in three focus areas: nuclear materials behaviour, nuclear safety thermal-hydraulic behaviour, and health physics dose-response investigation. 

What they offer: CANS comprises five distinct research facilities: Nuclear Materials Post-Irradiation Examination Facility, Nuclear Materials Characterization Facility, Nuclear Thermal Testing Facility, Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy Laboratory, and the Health Physics Dose-Response Facility.
