Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies (CACT)

Organizational focus: The Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies (CACT) conducts fundamental research in thermal spray coatings and plasma processing.

Who they are: Based at the University of Toronto, CACT was established in 1998 as a collaborative research center by researchers from mechanical engineering and materials science departments. It operates with approximately 40 researchers and partners with industry research centres and government institutions.

What they offer: CACT operates process diagnostic and coating characterization equipment. It possesses several thermal spray application systems such as atmospheric plasma spray, high-velocity oxy-fuel spray, wire-arc spray, radio-frequency inductively coupled plasma, and a vacuum plasma spray forming system.
