Centre for Industrial Application of Microcellular Plastics (CIAMP)

The University of Toronto’s Centre for Industrial Application of Microcellular Plastics (CIAMP) is a state-of-the-art research centre for developing innovative, commercially viable plastic foaming technologies. Its overall goal is to facilitate technology transfer to the industry. CIAMP is an integral extension to the Microcellular Plastics Manufacturing Laboratory (MPML), which is the international leader in plastic foaming research since its inception within the University of Toronto in 1993.

CIAMP is equipped with state-of-the-art plastic foaming facilities, such as industry-scale extrusion foaming and injection foam molding systems. In addition, CIAMP is supported by substantial industry expertise from the Consortium of Cellular and Microcellular Plastics (CCMCP), a network uniting more than 20 leading plastic companies around the world. With this extensive research network and infrastructure, CIAMP is dedicated to bridging science to technology and providing solutions to enable its partners’ success on their foaming technology.
