What kind of information can be searched through TrilliumGIS?

  • EDO stands for Economic Development Officer. EDO's are responsible for developing and coordinating the implementation of a plan to improve the economy of an area by attracting new businesses, encouraging investment opportunities, increasing job opportunities and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

What are the differences between the listed EDOs on the Layers tab?

  • Lower Tier EDO: responsible for the economic development of a town or city in Ontario
  • Upper Tier EDO: responsible for the economic development of a county or town partnership in Ontario
  • Regional EDO: responsible for the economic development of a geographic region in Ontario

How do I add Certified Sites to my Report?

  • All Certified Sites on the map that correspond to your selection from the Spatial Boundary tab will be included in your Report.
  • Selecting All of Ontario will result in every Certified Site data point being included.
  • Selecting Current Map Extents will result in only the Certified Sites displayed on the map on your screen when you click Generate Report on the Report tab being included in your Report.
  • Selecting a Municipal or EDO boundary will result in only the Certified Sites displayed within that boundary being included in your Report.

How do I add Educational Institutions to my Report?

  • If All of Ontario is selected on the Spatial Boundary tab, all Educational Institution data points will be included in your Report.
  • If Current Map Extents is selected on the Spatial Boundary tab, only the Educational Institutions displayed on the map on your screen when you click Generate Report on the Report tab will be included in your Report.
  • If a Municipal or EDO boundary is selected on the Spatial Boundary tab, only the Educational Institutions within that boundary will be included in your Report.
  • Additional Educational Institutions that are not included in your selection from the Spatial Boundary tab can be added manually. To add an Educational Institution manually, search for a particular Educational Institution on the Education Search tab, and click the Green Educational Institution Name. This will add your selected Educational Institution to your Report.

How do I add Businesses to my Report?

  • All Businesses must be added to the Report manually through the Business Search tab. Businesses can be added individually by Business Name or Description, or in groups by NAICS Code or Description.
  • To add businesses individually by Business Name or Description, click on the Green Business Title from your Search Results. Recall that your selected Business will only be displayed on your Report if it corresponds to your selection from the Spatial Boundary tab.
  • To add businesses in groups by NAICS Code or Description, click on the Green NAICS Code from your Search Results. Recall that businesses with your selected NAICS Code will only be displayed on your Report if they correspond to your selection from the Spatial Boundary tab.

How do I add individual businesses within a NAICS Code to my Report?

  • To add businesses individually within a specific NAICS Code, first click on the Green NAICS Code from your Search Results to populate the map with those data points.
  • Return to the Identify tab and select Businesses. Use your Identify tool to zoom in on specific data points on the map. After you click on your data point of interest, select Add to list on the left-hand side of your screen.
  • Once you have selected all of your businesses of interest, return to the Report tab. Under My List you can click Businesses and see each business that you selected with the Add to list button.
  • To remove businesses from your Report that have your previously selected NAICS Code but you are not interested in, click NAICS Codes, and select the (x) next to the Green NAICS Code. Businesses that you have added through Add to list will remain. Recall that businesses with your selected NAICS Code will only be displayed on your Report if they correspond to your selection from the Spatial Boundary tab.

How much information can be included in one report?

  • There is a limit of 50 businesses per report.
